About Chris's unique, personalized lessons:

Each lesson is tailored to the individual student based on their abilities and attitude. For a young beginner, the lessons can be taken slow and steady. For an intermediate or advanced individual, the lessons will challenge and push the student to the best of their abilities.

In addition, each lesson is run by the STUDENT, but guided by Chris. What does this mean? It means that the student gets to choose the material they learn. There will always be music theory, techniques, scales, etc. but the songs and the actual material that all of these essentials is applied to, THAT'S what the student gets to control.

Everyone learns in different ways at different rates, and Chris is an absolute expert at personalizing each lesson based off of that criteria. In addition, musical taste is going to drive each lesson to be unique and that's something Chris likes to embrace and encourage.

Lesson Experience

Chris offers lessons on a multitude of instruments at all skill levels. He's been a private music instructor for 10+ years, teaching privately out of his own studio, as well as third party companies (Park Districts, Schools of Music, etc.). He teaches kids from ages 6 up to adult (all ages!!). Chris has also taught group lessons.

Piano Lessons:

BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED

Chris has 20+ years of experience playing piano/keys. He teaches everything from classical piano to jazz piano. His specialty is rock and pop, so a "keyboard" lesson would include things like rock organ, synthesizers, and any other keys patch you can think of!!

Voice Lessons:

BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED

Chris has 15+ years of experience in voice. He started out singing Billy Joel and Elton John, but branched into Christian Rock, Pop, and Musical Theater, just to name a few. His teaching methods are absolutely unmatched in vocal instruction.

Guitar Lessons:

BEGINNER

Chris has 10+ years of experience playing guitar. Most gigs he plays solo guitar and sings. He has an extensive background playing for church in a modern worship setting, usually leading music on an acoustic or piano. Both acoustic and electric are offered.

Bass Lessons:

BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE

Chris has 10+ years of experience playing bass. He would fill in on gigs with his own bands in an acoustic setting, as well as play for church when the bassist was missing. He's recorded bass on his on music in the studio as well. He teaches both 4-string and 5-string.

Composition & Songwriting:

BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED

Chris has been writing music since he started playing. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Composition from Mcnally Smith College of Music. Chris teaches composition by implementing software including Finale, LogicPro, Garageband, etc. He's learned from great composer/film scorer Sean McMahon (Grudge 3) and songwriters such as Brian Laidlaw and Jeremy Messersmith (both local MN songwriters).

Music Theory:

BEGINNER - INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED

Chris has plenty of experience applying music theory in his lessons, compositions, and his own performances. His services are offered as Music Theory Tutoring and they're at the same rates as music lessons.
